What the Resilience Circle is

The Resilience Circle is not a course about resilience. It is an invitation to build a living, personal relationship with the conditions that allow you to thrive -- not just endure -- when the pressure is real and the path isn't clear.

Over seven weeks, you'll move through six conditions of resilience -- one per week -- with practices to carry into daily life and a community to share what you discover. The seventh week is a live gathering where you weave everything together and leave with a Personal Resilience Map that is yours to keep.

The Challenge we are naming

There is a story that gets told about resilience that we want to challenge right from the start.

The story that resilience is a personality trait -- something you either have or don't have. A thickness of skin. An ability to absorb pressure without complaint.

We think that story is not only wrong -- it's harmful. Because it puts the entire burden on the individual and lets organisations off the hook for the conditions they create.

We see it differently. Resilience is not a fixed trait. It is a set of conditions -- organisational, cultural, relational, and personal -- that can be deliberately, thoughtfully cultivated. Conditions that leaders and organisations have far more influence over than they typically realise.

This programme gives you a practical, embodied way to cultivate those conditions in yourself -- so that when complexity arrives, you have something real to draw on.The Six Capacities

The Six Capacities

The six capacities of the Resilience Layer™ are not a hierarchy. They are not a checklist. Each one does something the others cannot — and together they describe a person who is grounded, connected, and genuinely in motion, even when the ground is shifting.

Week 1 — Mission & Purpose | The Anchor
You find your footing by reconnecting to why something matters. Clarity about what you are for makes uncertainty about how far more navigable.

Week 2 — Open Engagement | The Atmosphere
You restore yourself through honesty and connection. Naming what is happening — to yourself or someone you trust — shifts something. Silence is not agreement. It is either safety missing or truth waiting for permission.

Week 3 — Agency | The Authorship
You regain ground by identifying what is yours to do. Agency is not control of outcomes. It is the knowledge that there is always something — however small — that is in your hands. That one thing is enough to begin.

Week 4 — Emotional Agility | The Flexibility
You process difficulty by staying in honest contact with what you are feeling. Not managing it. Not performing past it. The capacity to feel without being flooded — and to name the emotion precisely enough that it no longer runs you.

Week 5 — Relationships | The Root Network
You are carried through challenging seasons by the people who know you. Connection replenishes what difficulty depletes. Genuine relationships — not networks, not professional courtesy — change the experience of carrying something hard.

Week 6 — Grow & Adapt | The Growth Ring
You find meaning in difficulty by staying curious. The question what is this moment teaching me? is more generative than why is this happening to me? — and it keeps you in motion when everything else feels uncertain.

Week 7 - The Resilience Layer ™ Integration Live Zoom

How the journey works

The program is designed to work even in a busy life. The practices are short by design -- because consistency matters more than intensity.

Each week follows the same rhythm:

  • Monday -- A short video session from Dorian and Lilia introduces the week's condition and leaves you with one orienting question to carry through the week.

  • All week -- Your practice guide offers three tiers: a Micro practice (2-5 minutes daily), a Meso practice (20-30 minutes, once in the week), and an optional Macro practice that involves another person.

  • Wednesday -- A single reflection prompt arrives to keep the condition alive mid-week without adding load.

  • Anytime -- The Resilience Circle WhatsApp space is your shared field. Share a word, a voice note, an observation. No pressure to perform -- just to notice, and if you're willing, to share.

  • Week 7 -- A live Zoom session with Dorian and Lilia. You weave the six conditions together and leave with a Personal Resilience Map -- yours to keep.

What you will leave with

A named understanding of your own resilience system — which capacities are already working, which ones slip away under pressure, and how to access them more intentionally.

A practice vocabulary you can use with yourself and with the people you lead. Not as a program to implement — as a language to share.

A small circle of women who have explored the same terrain alongside you — and who know your map.

A personal practice commitment you have named aloud and made accountable to someone who witnessed it.

Fund it forward

The Resilience Circle has no enrollment fee.

Instead, we ask you to do something we believe is itself an act of resilience: to give forward -- to support the resilience of women and children somewhere in the world who need it far more urgently than any of us need another program.

This is not a transaction. It is an invitation to begin the program the way we hope you will live it -- by connecting your own growth to something larger than yourself.

Before Week 1 begins, we ask you to make a donation of any amount to a cause of your choice. You might consider:

  • Zan Times (zantimes.com) -- An Afghan women-led newspaper publishing courageous journalism in the face of brutal suppression; a living example of what resilience looks like under impossible conditions. Dorian's choice.

  • A cause of your own -- Any charity or nonprofit whose work supports the resilience of women and children.

After you give, please send us the name and website of the organization you chose. Every organization our participants choose will be featured on the Women Agents of Change website -- creating a growing map of women's and children's resilience initiatives around the world, built one Resilience Circle cohort at a time.

What this asks of you

This program is designed to work even in a busy life. You can miss a week and re-enter without having broken anything.

But the depth of what you take away will be proportional to the quality of your attention -- not the quantity of time.

  • Consistency over intensity. Five minutes of genuine attention every day builds more than one heroic two-hour session. The practices are short by design.

  • Honesty over performance. The community space works only if you bring what is actually true -- not what sounds impressive. No one is grading this.

  • Curiosity over comprehension. You don't need to understand each condition before you can practise it. Let the practice teach you. Understanding often arrives after the doing, not before.

  • One thing at a time. Each week introduces one condition. Resist the urge to race ahead. The sequence is designed as a slow spiral, not a checklist.

Is this program for you?

This programme is for you if you are navigating complexity -- in your organisation, your team, or your own life -- and want to build something real rather than just push through.

It is for you if you suspect that resilience is less about hardening yourself and more about tending to the conditions that make sustained, meaningful work possible.

It is for you if you want practices that fit into a full life, a community that is honest rather than performative, and guides who work from the inside out.

You don't need to arrive with resilience already figured out. You just need to arrive -- with whatever is actually true for you right now

“Hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something is worth doing regardless of how it turns out. “
